A Man's Sandwich

Well, maybe I should call it a boy to man sandwich. My beautiful twenty year old son ( all 197cms of him) slept in on Saturday morning...so breakfast at 11am, nothing fancy a couple of eggs on toast washed down with a large glass of orange juice. Not a murmur was heard from him for the next four hours, actually he rarely looks for food, so at 3pm I asked if he was hungry. The usual reply is "what have you got?"....not much as I had not been to the supermarket. The Man's Sandwich is built like this.....
(1) Slice an onion thinly...straight into an oiled small fypan ...let the onions do their thing....need to be soft and carmelised
(2) 300g of lean beef mince...add one clove of finely diced garlic and half an onion finely diced, salt, cracked pepper and a good pinch of paprika, crack an egg and mix to form a hamburger patty
(3) Heat a second frypan, a little olive oil and start cooking on medium to high heat...don't ant the meat sauting...give the onions a swirl
(4) Remove the rind of a rash of bacon, cut in half, flip the patty, add bacon to same frypan...
(5) A couple of slices of sourdough bread into the toaster....slice some tasty cheese
(6) Onions should be nearly done, flip the bacon, crack an egg, put sliced cheese on patty so heat can melt, flip the egg...call out to the...lunch is ready...I know it is going to take at least 5 minutes to get to the kitchen
(7) Two slices of toasted bread on plate, some nice crisp mixed lettuce, patty on one bread, onions on top , a swish of tomato sauce (ketchup), bacon, egg and more lettuce on top, close it all with second slice of bread...
(8) Second call out to boy becoming a man...that lunch is ready.. I am rewarded with a thank you that looks great and a warm kiss on the cheek....
It's why we do it...
